About OPENetwork

In 1982, Stephan Lugert's business "The Computer Tank" changed into "The Tank", owned jointly by him and Jean-Claude Chetrit. For years, they made CP/M machines, then TurboDOS machines based on S100 architecture.

In 1988, Jean-Claude took a sabbatical in France, met Jean Michel there, and came back with the idea of switching from a hardware business to a software business. The company merged with John Lowenthal's "JXL Systems" to become "OPENetwork, Inc." (a New York State Corporation).

The new business immediately produced several programmer's tools which have become its claim to fame, DELTA and The Berkeley Utilities.

The business continues to create PCs, repair them and tune them, mostly for a very small select base of friends and businesses in the New York Area. Recently, the hardware division has decided to build "jc's dream machine", a high end PC-Entertainment Center in the $10,000 to $30,000, with all the functionality one should expect from a computer.

Besides the business mentioned above, each of the principals engage in consulting for large Corporations: Jean-Claude in Statistics and SAS programming, Jean in custom C++ programming.

At the end of 1999 John died and in early 2000 Stephan died. At the end of 2000, the business was closed.
